    LGV HGV C1+E License

    For drivers looking to drive or tow a trailer with heavy vehicles that falls in the category of C1, they need to procure C1+E license.
    For drivers who have passed their car driving test before January 1997, they would already have C1+E license, but with restricted trailer limit of up to 750 Kg (Total train weight: Up to 8250 Kg).

    This category is an addition to C1class as it includes the trailer and towing methodology, but with lorry or trucks.

    Eligibility:

    A driver needs to have full category C1 license before taking C1+E course.
    For availing the driver training facility for attainment of C1+E license, one must apply for the C1+E provisional entitlement along with a medical report.

    License Application:

    The C1+E license attainment makes a driver qualified to drive LGV vehicles entailing:
    • 3.5 ft to 7.5 ft height vehicles with trailers
    • 3500 kg to 7.5 tonnes in weight with trailers

    Vehicles for which C1+E license is provided:

    • Mini diggers and excavators
    • Chippers and Mulchers
    • Recovery vehicles
    • Recreational Vehicles towing leisure craft, cars, motor bikes or boats behind their RVs.
    • Rapid Deployment Trailers, which are used by breakdown and recovery service suppliers.

    Authorization:

    LGV/HGV C License

    C license attainment certifies a driver to drive LGV/HGV up to 32 tonnes. This category is one step further to the C1 license, but any new driver opting for C license does not need to have C1 license on compulsory basis, as C category equips a driver with certification to drive C1 authorized as well as C authorized vehicles.

    But for C1 license holder drivers, if they want to progress to heavier vehicles (7.5 tonnes to 32 tonnes), they need to obtain C license.

    Eligibility:

     

    There are two categories:

    • New drivers over age of 18 years, having B category license after passing the UK car test or who have exchanged a foreign license to a UK license.

    • Or the older drivers who holds C1 license.
